Motorcycle Restoration

When wanting to restore your machine some key things to find out are:

Does it start? Is there fuel in tank and if so how old is the fuel? Is it getting spark? Is it getting fuel to the spark plugs? Does it have the proper oils and fluids and at proper amounts? Do the brakes work? Are the tires safe? Are your cables functioning? Is it leaking any fluids? Is it missing any parts?

Are there any broken components? Was it previously registered in another province?

Preparing Your Small Engine for the Off-Season

When putting your small engine away for the offseason there are a few easy things you can do to ensure that when it comes time to use it again it runs as good as when you put it away.

Always start with making sure all the fuel is taken out of the fuel system, whether you run the it out of fuel until the unit shuts off or take the fuel out manually it is very important to have as little fuel as possible stored in the fuel system as fuel life nowadays isn’t what it used to be and can cause carburetors or injectors to get plugged with bad fuel. Making sure your oils are fresh is imperative as units that are stored outside can have moisture build up inside the engine due to our climate.

Batteries don’t last forever but you also do not need to be replacing them every season. The best thing you can do is to remove your battery and put it on a battery tender to keep it at optimal levels during the off season. At the very least disconnecting the ground wire will ensure that any draw from the unit is eliminated.
